Autorouting on dashed connections

I had to look this one up because basically no one uses autoroute, or at least no professional uses autoroute. Autoroute only autoroutes ratsnest(dashed) lines.

Autoroute was invented in the 80's when each layer of a board only had traces running in one direction, ie top layer all East to West, bottom all North to south, which is simple enough that someone invented an autorouter to do it. Now that no one uses that method anymore, autoroute is pretty much redundant. Maybe that $80K software has a decent autorouter, but you can guarantee that most of the complicated boards you will see are all manually routed - expensive programs have a push trace feature to make manual routing faster -, and that probably includes your PCs motherborad.

Experts will buy $10K of Altium software but will manually route everything, because they can do a better job than $10K of autoroute.

Basically don't use autoroute.

Thanks for your clarification, I was probably putting too much faith in algorithms of nowadays..

I will route manually

Just scroll up until you see the red download writing, and then import those .fzpz parts into your MINE bin.

Display / Hide all layers of a side at once

Hello!
Problem : When working on a small circuit, even with the ability to display both sides or just one by one, both are always displayed, one being shaded. But even this doesn't make the circuit really readable.

Solution 1 :
It would be nice to be able to check at once the hide/display checkboxes about everything that is on one side of the PCB. It would just [un]check at once the copper, the labellings and the parts design for one side.

OR (inclusive)

Solution 2 :
It would be nice to be able to completely hide everything that is under the PCB, not only put it in a lighter shade. So that if that option is selected, when on "both sides" (I'm not using the English version, so I'm not sure about the labels of the third big red button at the bottom of the software) is selected, there would be no change, but when on "bottom layer" or "top layer", we would only see said side.

They are now in core, so he can just search for the one he wants in the parts bin (the magnifying glass on the parts manager on the right of the screen). (edit:) As well he has a repository on github where his new stuff is being developed which you may want to browse for parts that haven't yet made it in to core. It is a subtree off of the master parts repro (took me a bit to figure out where it was when I first accessed it  ).

Auto-controlled tractor with Mosfet

Hi,
I just started a new project. It should be an auto-controlled tractor with Mosfet.
Here is more about it. It is pasted here from the code in Fritzing.
// Auto-controlled tractor that can avoid obstacles, the servo is controlled by LDR's.
// We can start the DC motor with the toggle switch. The DC motor drive the two back wheels.
// The tractor can go just forward.
// We control DC motor with a MOSFET.
// We can set the speed of DC motor with potentiometer.

I made the circuit so far by using a few circuits from here and from there.
Here it is an image of the circuit.

Is it good? Did I make some mistake in it?
Should I put another battery just for the DC motor?

Best, from Pál

OCR Font usage in library items

Well, my use-case is that I do own 'OCR A Pro' and 'OCR B Pro' from undisclosed type foundry. Are those texts in SVGs parsed in any way or can I convert them to outlines instead?

I do not plan to submit those parts initially, but I would be willing to do it later when those will be in production quality.

I simply mean the fzpz file that describes a fan with the three wires (power, ground, hall effect sensor)

I can't seem to find any male dc barrel jack plugs like the ones found at sparkfun PRT-10287
DC Barrel Jack Adapter - Male
Seems like such a basic part they have the female version in power but not the male or am I missing something totally new to all this.
Thanks for any advise.

7 Segment LED Display 6 Digits

The parts bin has both single digit and 4 digit (multiplexed) 7 segment LED displays in it (use parts search to search for display). I know there are 2 digit and 3 digit multiplexed 7 segments available but there don't appear to be Fritzing parts for them (at least in core, a google search and a look at projects may turn something up). If you aren't cost sensitive and want something cool have a look at these rgb 2 digit displays from Sparkfun:

First multicolor seven segments that I have seem. Have to buy me some of them to play with  (digikey has them as well).

Someone else asked about this in relation to connecting a 9V battery to the arduino part some time back (although I can't at this moment find the thread). In his case the Arduino doesn't have a suitable connector on the power jack to connect the plug into. I think thats probably why there isn't one, there isn't an easy way to make it connect to the female in breadboard in a way that will cause the connection in schematic. It would be easy enough to make one but it would only be cosmetic not particularly useful without being able to connect.

Parts auto connect to the BB, can you put that bit of code in to the plug. You would also have to add the contacts to the plug so it has something to join to when you overlap the 2 parts.
