What is the process for uninstalling Fritzing?

$

There are two user directories (with your parts and the parts database) which don't get touched during an install (to not affect your sketchs during upgrades). On Windows they are in

c:\users\username\AppData\Fritzing\roaming\Fritzing (which is a hidden directory so you need to enable hidden directories in explorer) and

c:\Users\username\My Documents\Fritzing (where username is your windows id)

If you don't have any parts or sketches you want to keep you can just delete those two directories and Fritzing will receate them, or you can move them aside by renaming them if you wan to keep something in them.

Peter,
Thank You. Worked perfectly.

Error loading SVG files to Parts Editor

Thanks to @chidea's lead, I've found a definitive solution.
Adobe Illustrator CC has an option (enabled by default) to save SVG as "responsive" (that is, scalable in web pages).
Just click on the "More Options" button on the Save pane, while saving as a Tiny 1.2 SVG, and deselect "responsive". Then the file will load correctly with Fritzing without the need to edit it.

Can someone explain how to get the search bar working again?
I tried deleting the directories in /AppData and /Documents and replaced the main program folder with a freshly downloaded copy but I still have no search bar.

Hi
I have made two different pcb layouts that are basically a flip-flop circuit controlling a relay to switch 230V.
Is it possible to get some expert advice about my design?
If so, what the best (most helpful) way I should upload my pcb design?
Thanks,

Hilfe,

Was tun?

BOM & Part Sourcing

I have finally got to the point where I'm ready to get the first prototype of my board fabricated and am now thinking about sourcing the parts for home assembly.

I have exported the BOM from Fritzing and now I'm a bit stuck in choosing which components to order from Digikey. Most are standard; the 0603 passive components like resistors, capacitor, LEDs etc, I can do source find them. But there are some that I am having difficulty identifying on Digikey from the Fritzing BOM.

Is there a particular technique for doing this? When I was developing the board I was just dragging parts in from the Fritzing parts library assuming they were all standard and easy to buy. Here are the ones I'm having difficulty finding :

• Capacitor Polarized - package eia3216; variant 1206
• Diode - package sma-diode_alt; variant sma-alt
• Resettable Fuse PTC - package ptc-1206; variant smd
• Crystal ( 12Mhz ) - package crystal-smd-5x3; variant 5x3
• Resonator ( 8Mz ) - package resonator-smd; frequency 10/20MHz; variant smd
• USB_AB - package usb-ab-micro-smd

Also, I just want to make sure I select the right size of ATmega328, this is what the Fritzing BOM says.

• ATmega328 - package tqfp; variant tqfp32 8mm;

All or any help and advice is welcome. Thanks.

As always google is your friend. While I had no idea what a mcp2515 was, a google search of "fritzing part mcp2515" turns up that it is a canbus controller and there is a Sparkfun breakout board for it available in core parts (enter canbus in the parts search window and hit enter and it will come up) which is likely what you are seeing as there doesn't appear to be anything else.

If you scroll down the left menu in the parts window do you find an icon of a magnifying glass somewhere? I've seen a case where it wasn't at the top of the screen as normal but the bottom (and needed to be dragged to the top). If that isn't it are you running Win10? It appears that one of the patches (that sometimes seems to fail on Win10) breaks search for reasons unknown. I think there were instructions on how to fix up Windows update so patches work correctly (which seems to fix the issue, although I've never seen it even on my Win10 machines).

If you upload the sketch as an fzz file (7th icon from the left on the reply tool bar), that will give us the entire design including the pcb to comment on.

Unfortunatly not, this is only the fpz file for your part not the part (which would also include the svg files). In Fritzing you need to right click on your part in the mine parts bin and select export part which will write an fzpz file (the fpz and its associated svgs all zipped) and uploard that.

Then you would need to make a custom part for it (or find one via google which my quick search didn't). The part you have outlined can be created from the generic IC easily, but you (or someone) would need to create an appropriate schematic svg for it if you want more than a box with labels in schematic. You might try searching for mcp2525 and/or canbus in the projects area of the main Fritzting web site in case someone has used one in a project there. You can then download the project and export the created part to reuse. You can also go to the web page where google found the image above and see if there is either a part or project containing the part on the web page.
Here are pointers to a couple of tutorials on parts creation if you choose to go that route (although it takes some time to learn):

It looks like a generic 18 pin IC with a different label. Just grab it from the bin and fill in part #.

It looks like you have picked generic parts out of the bin.

Usually you work out what values you need, find a part that suits in Digikey, and then put that part number into the parts Inspector. Basically you need to know what part before you even put it in FZ, because it has to be able to handle the power, and the FZ part must have the footprint of the actual part you are going to use.

board 2.fzz (57.0 KB)
board 1.fzz (55.9 KB)

Hi
I have made all of the trace 48mil, and have double layered the 240V connections and I have kept as much 240V trace separation as possible.
I tried the "copper fill" fill option but gaps to the traces looked very small and I couldn’t figure out how to increase the clearances.
Any suggestions appreciated.
