TP4056 Charger board

Finally got there with your much needed help. I think I need to stop trying to design my project and start playing with Ink. That way I might get to work it a bit better. I know how to work Corel Draw better, but no matter what I do I can't get draw to do what I want it to do and it keeps adding stuff in XML I don't have a clue what it is. Computers will be the death of me yet.

Use whatever vector package you like, we only use INK because it free.

I know my instructional vids will take half a day to watch, but you will save 10x as many hours than fumbling around. I don't do any computer stuff these days without spending days watching tutorial videos because everything is complicated. Even similar programs have their own individual foibles so knowing one won't help you with another. I would've spent 10hrs each on FZ, KiCad, Altium, and Eagle before I decided to go with FZ.

Parts making has a long learning curve (as does Inkscape) but once you are past that it gets easier, if you only need one part it is usually easier to get one of us to do it for you. One thing you may want to consider is the four mounting holes, it isn't clear to me if they should have pads to solder the legs to for mechanical stability. At present they are bare holes but may be better with a pad to solder to hold the switch down when you are moving it. I can add pads to the mounting holes if you like (but because it is smd they won't be plated through and I don't know if that will be a problem for the board house).

As Old_Grey said we use Inkscape because its free (and in my case because being free, its the most likely thing for other people to be using, so knowing its quirks is helpful). Corel Draw works fine, in many ways better than Inkscape I think. I'm working on a python script that will remove the px from font size and do a variety of other things that Inkscape does that Fritzing doesn't like but it isn't quite ready for release yet.

Don't get me wrong I think Fritzing is great and look forward to your new script Peter. I agree Ink is good and even better because it's free, but like all new programs takes a bit of getting used to. I use Corel 12 which is a good few years old now so Ink is maybe ahead of 12 in many respects. PCB design is also new to me so learning lots as I go. My main interest is brewing beer, and love tinkering, hence my current project. Many thanks to you both. You have been very helpful in pointing me in the right direction.

Don't have a high res screen so can't help, but there has been discussion of this before in the forum (although as usual I can not find the article I remember). I think there is a qt setting that helps somewhat. Here is one article I found on high res screens:

perhaps someone else has a reference to the other article I remember (or a better search term  ).

Thanks Peter,

Hmm, in that article it says that its working for some people but not for others. I guess I'm one of the others...

I hope they'll fix it in an update, but for now, I'll hang tight and try not to squint too much.

here is the one I was thinking of with a qt level fix:

hopefully this helps (or someone else has a better comment) because development (and thus updates) seems stalled due to lack of developers.

You could try starting Fritzing with scaling disabled. You will have to go to the fritzing folder in a terminal and invoke fritzing with:

You can also read through this github issue that may have other workarounds since all the scaling issues seem related. https://github.com/fritzing/fritzing-app/issues/3221

Making cut outs in PCB

I don't know anything about making cutout PCBs, but from here it looks cutout.

In Gerbv it shows the internal square in the contour layer, but I don't know if it's a hole.

Any experts out there.

I don't know if anyone would want this because it is the same Capacitor Polarized - panasonic_d as in the bin just with a SMD silver can looking part in the breadboard and icon view, but at least it's better/easier to spot than using the generic electrolytic drawing.

Thanks @sublimeartistry that is what it should look like.
Strange that seeedstudio fusion PCB is not rendering it like this, maybe they do not support cutouts like this.
I will contact them, but now I know that it is not me
Thanks again!

Hi Peter,

I would prefer pads as there are components on the other side of the PCB.
So if you could change them to pads than I will just bend those small legs.
I do not have the part yet so I cannot say what it exactly is.

Thanks again.

Try not to link those broken up datasheets.

I don't know what package, but if it's the DIP you grab a generic DIP from the bin and add the part number to the Inspector.
