Tried to edit IC, now cannot delete it from bin! HELP!

Two things on parts . I have deleted quite a parts and their created svg drawings and other stuff after some experimenting. Now when I load in my file to work on it , I get error messages that say they can’t find such and such file anymore. I am pretty sure I have deleted all the parts, but don’t know where to look to make sure.

Also, as I right click to edit a part such as a transistor ,etc I get an error message that says I can't edit the fpz for it. Looking in that location , there is only something that says "placeholder".

I am in Ubuntu running Fritzing 9.2 using sudo apt-get install .

The current version of Fritzing is 0.9.3b, 9.2 is older (and I think quite different although I have never run it, only 0.9.3b). I’d suggest uninstalling 0.9.2 and installing 0.9.3b via the tar file available on Fritzing.org (or via your package manager if they have it, but I think many don’t). 0.9.3.b came out in 2016, so 0.92 is quite old. On 0.9.3b part deletion is a little odd, often the part isn’t fully deleted until you shutdown and restart fritzing (don’t know if that was true of .9.2). The part file format here:

details where the user directories are stored (they don’t get deleted during an install, and sometimes need to be manually cleared). I expect that will be the same on 0.9.2 but am not sure.

Peter, thanks again for the detailed feedback.
I did the described corrections & hope not to stress your patience to much ;o).

Blue, I am not sure about how to read the W-series bridge rectifier datasheet …
Is the pin spacing really 5,6 mm or is it between min: 0,180in (4,6mm) and max: 0,220in (5,6mm)?

Looks good now. This really isn’t your fault, it’s a quirk of Inkscape’s, (or possibly python). For some reason it decided to recalculate the radius and floating point roundoff issues changed the circle to an ellipse which screws up gerber processing on our side, because it is looking for a circle to generate the hole. Similarly Inkscape inserts px on the end of font-size statements to be CSS compliant but Fritzing will set the font size to 0 if you edit a part with px in the font size. Neither is wrong, they are just doing different things. My parts check script looks for (and corrects when it can) these issues.

Your right it is unclear, but I think what they are trying to convey is that 5.6mm is the spacing to the outer diameter and 4.6mm is the spacing to the inner diameter of the pin making the pin 1mm wide and the center somewhere around 5.08 mm and should therefore match you part. If he has one of these printing out the footprint and trying it would confirm if that is correct.

Ugh!! That’s confusing… 1mm difference is huge… If I’ve to bend legs to place it, there will be space between part and PCB…
I should wait till I get one of those…

That’s why my all new & edited parts are referenced from actual parts…!!

Hi all

I thought this would present in the Fritzing library, but no luck  I need 4 pin (or 3 or 5) Molex connector for PCB. The connectors look like this:

Any advice?

Thanks!

Hi,
While I was using fritzing platform, I noticed that the Arduino Nano V3.0 I/O Expansion Adapter Board Shield doesn’t exist. The fact is that I need this board shield in order to construct a diagram for my circuit. Is there anyway to find a .fzp file for this board shield?
Thank you very much.

While I still haven’t played with eagle2fritzing, this appears to indicate that file “console test.xml” is 0 length when it shouldn’t be. Unfortunately I have no idea what is supposed to generate the file.

Since no one with more knowledge appears to be replying, I expect you need to contact the site admin as you suggest. I’ve never seen anyone request to delete their account before so there isn’t any precedent.

I think that you will find that it is .2in center to center with a 1mm pin (the center point that we want being 1mm (2 * the difference between the larger and smaller numbers) + the smaller measurement, which puts it around 5.08mm and thus the original footprint should work fine, assuming I am reading the data sheet correctly.

Its there, its just not obvious. In core parts in “connection” (first icon) drag a 2 pin header in to any view. Click on the connector in any view then in Inspector (right window) click on form and change female to molex. Then change pin spacing (above it) from .1 to .156. You can’t change the values in inspector when the part is in a part bin, only when it is in a sketch. Change the pins (number of connectors) field to generate one of the appropriate length.

I don’t see one anywhere, but there appear to be several varieties of them around (with different pin layouts). If you post a link to a picture (preferably a mechanical drawing, although there may not be one) I’ll have a look at it.

Yes… Both datasheets just stated the spacing without & with pins…!!!
After your explanation, I got that… So, the 200mil must be correct… Thanks…
