Has anyone made board Romeo from DFRobot?

I just looked at the svg’s, and they are rubbish. He just imported the BB svg into another part - this is usually how you make parts -, but never bothered doing the other views. Basically you would have to start with that BB svg, make the PCB svg, and SCH svg, import those svg’s into a part with FZ Editor, and assign pins. If you don’t need the other views, you just need to put the BB svg into a part and assign pins. It a fair amount of work, especially if you don’t know how, but maybe watch these tutorials and then decide if you want to tackle it or maybe wait and see if Vanepp can do it.

Vanepp did a text guide, but I can’t find it so you will have to look for it.

Where does Fritzing store known parts

Where does Fritzing store it’s list of “known” parts, i.e. which file?

The reason I ask is because Fritzing has lost my part I have been creating but when I attempt to load the .fzpz file back into Fritzing it displays a message saying “There is already a part with id … loaded into Fritzing”.

I would like to get rid of that part that Fritzing “thinks” is loaded and re-load my part.

I only know Win7

Each part has an ID#, and reloading that ID# again and you get that message. I remove it from here. - C:\User\X\Documents\Fritzing\parts\user

If you remove a part in a FZ bin you have to close FZ and restart FZ again, or you get that,

I created a project last time, but I couldn’t find it even in my profile.

I want to create a new one, but just find the entry, I remember last time when I created a project, there was photo library, but this time when i clicked “projects” tag, there was just a prompt:
create a new topic…

Arduino MKR ENV Shield

Hello @vanepp,

Many, many thanks for making the part for the MKR ENV shield/HAT for public use. I’ve just embarked on using it to document it for an Arduino project published elsewhere.

Quick question (with apologies on tagging an older thread): is there a step-by-step tutorial that I can follow to prepare similar parts? I have a need for several very simple parts but I don’t know where to start the process for building the parts. I’ve read a few articles on how to proceed but I could never end up with any usable part owing to my incompetence. I would like to have slightly more detailed instructions (in case things continue to go wrong for me!).

Any tutorial or guidance would be sincerely appreciated by yours truly.

Kind regards.

Thanks, @Old_Grey for the rapid response. Appreciate it. I will dig into the links shortly. Hopefully, I too can contribute towards the newer parts library (with some peer review, of course, prior to release).

Kind regards.

@Old_Grey

I’ve deleted the other ones… As of now this is the only one live. SO I’d say a legit cry for help.

@LNGM. You need to post a schematic. NOT a link to where you bought it from. BUT a DATASHEET with manufacturer Specifications. Any bogus links will be removed and you will be subject to re-verification.

What’s the difference between 0.9.3 Vs 0.9.4, ie, is it the same just with bug fixes.

Can you have 0.9.4 and 0.9.3 on the same PC and start which ever you want, or does it overwrite 0.9.3.

Bug fixes mostly. See change history for details.

Whether you can have both versions on the same PC or not will depend on how it is installed. On linux (Fedora, Ubuntu, others) it is possible several ways. A ‘system’ install though would wipe out the previous version.

A quick look at the contents of the Windows zip file shows that it unpacks to a version specific folder name containing everything needed. Just open (or run from cli), with no “install” needed. It looks like that will work just fine beside an older version. Mostly likely sharing the same configuration file. It does have its own parts library, so that only be shared if the configuration file points to it.

Given my understanding of the way the parts library and sketch folders are accessed, the old configuration file might confuse the new version about where to look for some files. Backup the existing configuration and your own parts before trying. My guess is that the best way would be to deleted the old configuration (not parts), run the new version, exit, then run the older version. That way the newest version gets to create a clean configuration, which the older version should still be happy with.

I was thinking of making more advanced user tutorial video, because people on the forum keep posting the same problems, but I don’t really do electronics anymore so only have 0.9.3, ie, I don’t design anything anymore. If I get motivated enough I’ll probably use 0.9.3 :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks

You haven’t assigned the pins in FZ edit.

I for sure did assign the pins. Probably tried 10x.

I did, just now, actually, solve the problem. Seems it had something to do with the order of the lines in the SVG file. I played around with it for a long time making sure it looked as close to an example file as I could. !

If you are talking about layers, yes it’s hard to assign pins if they aren’t on the top layer. In INK XML edit you put your copper under silk.

Your copper group will work, but the quicker way is just have the 4 circles in copper0, and put that in an empty copper1. You actually have 2 sets of circles, 4 in copper1, which are on the top of the PCB, and another 4 in copper0, the bottom of the PCB.
